Worked on tailwheel mount
December 31, 2014 – I got my tailwheel parts back from the powder coater, so I wanted to get the tailwheel mount going.
I clecoed the bracket and the bulkheads into the tailwheel skin, then started to ream up the bolt holes in the forward bulkhead. The holes started at #30, so I used core drills to take them first to .189″, then .248″.
Here is the bracket clecoed into place:
For what it’s worth, I took out the clecoes from the bracket so I could access the rivets for the forward of the two bulkheads. LJ helped me shoot those rivets. What a pain…
After everything was riveted, I put the bracket back in place and installed the bolts and the two keeper rivets:
Then I wrestled the assembly into the aft end of the aft fuselage, hopefully for the last time…
Now I just have a lot of riveting to do.
